About Hostwoody and Green Web Hosting
Welcome to our small way to make a big difference
We dream of a better world, and we design our web hosting services with that dream in mind. We care about the environment, so we use sustainable practices in our data centres. We also understand that technology is essential for a modern society, so we provide reliable and affordable hosting solutions.
We are committed to making a positive impact on the world, and we believe that our web hosting services can help us achieve that goal. We designed Hostwoody UK around the following core values:
Hands-on agenda to have a tangible positive change on our environment
Satisfy your needs whilst matching environmentalist requirements
Voice out climate concerns by connecting with others and sharing your knowledge and perspectives on how to improve our relationship with nature
What We Mean by “Seriously Green” Web Hosting 🌿
Sustainable Web Hosting
The internet uses a significant amount of electricity, contributing to climate change. It's estimated that it consumes over 400 terawatt-hours a year* - more than the entire UK. That's why we're committed to using 100% renewable energy in our web hosting and ensuring our data centres are as efficient as possible.
* Source: Website Carbon
Our Tier 3 data centres run on 100% renewable energy: wind and solar power. This ensures our energy supply is carbon-neutral.
Our data centres have a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) as low as 1.12, making them among the most efficient around. We achieve this through the latest power-saving technologies and efficient cooling systems.
Autoscaling Technology
Our hosting platform uses autoscaling technology, ensuring websites only use the resources they need. This approach saves energy during quiet periods while guaranteeing fast performance during traffic spikes.
Environmentalist Hands-on Action
We're creating a new approach to business in the ICT industry. While sustainable web hosting is important, we believe in taking direct action. Our first step is rewilding the UK, starting with Scotland, to help combat climate change and biodiversity loss.
We've committed to our mission by reducing our profits and offering no markup prices. We've signed a commercial agreement with Scotland: The Big Picture to donate 10% of our sales to their work.
